The Sound
Are you having a hard time finding that “Vintage Sound” in a new build?
Bob Altman and Sons have the "Vintage sound" you want and need.
Over the years, Bob has developed and dialed in the voicing of that “Vintage Sound”. These handcrafted guitars have an open balanced sound, a resonant tone, with rich warm sustain, that is full of overtones and a nuanced sound.
The sound is generated from the interior of the guitar including the top, back, sides, neck, fretboard, nut and saddle. Even the finish plays a role in this. The bracing and construction of an acoustic guitar play a significant role in its sound. The bracing helps to support the top of the guitar and can affect the resonance and sustain of the instrument. The top, or soundboard, is responsible for producing the majority of the guitar’s sound. There is a lot that goes into the sound of the guitar from start to finish.
For this sound, it is crucial that the craftsmanship of the luthier, not only be top notch, but as close to perfection as possible. Bob has built this way over the years and is happy to pass this on to his sons as they build along with him.
